Senedd Member Joel James MS has today joined Pontyclun Town Council for their VE80 commemorations.
Commencing at noon, the community gathered for a short service to commemorate the addition of three new names to the War memorial, followed by a wreath laying ceremony in which Joel laid a wreath and honoured those who sacrificed so much for the country.
This service was followed by a Community event in Pontyclun Park with various military reenactors, stalls, music and activities.
Speaking about the day, Joel said:
It's been great to see so many events being held today to mark the 80th Anniversary of VE Day - it's been such a brilliant celebration of remembrance.
I'm truly grateful to Pontyclun Town Council for being invited this morning to lay a wreath, as we not only remembered the sacrifices that were made, but we also honoured and dedicated three new names to be added to the town's war memorial.
It was also great to catch up with so many of my former colleagues from Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, and enjoy the town's fantastic VE Day celebrations.
