Joel James MS, Senedd Member for South Wales Central, has this week met with Electrical Safety First, a campaigning charity that aims to reduce deaths and injuries caused by electricity in UK homes.
To do this, the charity works closely with the UK and Welsh Governments, the electrical industry, manufacturers, retailers and consumer safety organisations to improve safety regulation and standards.
Electrical Safety First also run media and digital campaigns to share advice and guidance with consumers that will help them to stay safe in their homes.
Speaking about the meeting, Joel said:
It was great to speak to Electrical Safety First, the UK Charity dedicated to reducing deaths, fires and injuries caused by electricity in UK homes this week at the Welsh Parliament.
Wales has a higher proportion of electrical fires caused by electricity than other parts of the UK - in Wales, 62% of all accidental domestic fires are electrical, compared to 53% in England.
