Joel James MS, the Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Local Government and Housing, visited the Sant Silian Housing Development in Llanrumney today to discuss the challenges facing the housing sector and the necessary steps the Welsh Government can take to support it.
During the visit, he met with representatives from Cardiff Community Housing Association and Dandara, the contractors involved in the project. Over the past three years, 27 new homes have been built at the site, with an additional nine apartments nearing completion as part of a Section 106 agreement with Dandara. As we approach the upcoming election, this visit highlighted the positive impact of affordable housing in the constituency, showcasing the providers of quality, energy-efficient homes.
Speaking after the visit, Joel said:
It was great to tour the Sant Silian site in my region this morning and gain insight into the challenges within the sector.
Having the opportunity to walk through the completed homes, view those still under construction, meet with the project managers, and speak with the Neighbourhood Manager allowed me to see firsthand the significant impact these new homes have had on tenants.
It was a valuable experience.
