Joel James MS, Senedd Member for South Wales Central has received confirmation from Ken Skates MS, Cabinet Secretary for Transport, that tolls will not be introduced along the A470.
Speaking in the Chamber, Joel highlighted that the Cabinet Secretary's predecessor consulted on introducing tolling along the A470 just outside Cardiff at Upper Boat and that this consultation caused a lot of concern and anger.
Keen to seek clarification on the Welsh Government's position, the Member asked whether tolling would be introduced and asked the Cabinet Secretary to categorically rule out the possibility.
Speaking outside the Chamber, Joel said:
It's confirmed, there will be NO tolls on the A470!
Last week in the Welsh Parliament, I questioned the Cabinet Secretary about Welsh Labour's previous consultation regarding the introduction of tolls just north of Cardiff at Upper Boat.
For once, the Welsh Government have listened to the public’s reaction and ruled out this hare-brained proposal.
