Cardiff is the only capital city in the UK that does not receive additional "Capital City" funding, which places a significant burden on South Wales Police and the other police forces in Wales.
As a capital city, Cardiff faces numerous challenges, especially with the growing number of large events announced each year, and to meet the increased demands on South Wales Police, vital additional funding is necessary. This is one of the reasons I believe we pay such a high police precept through our Council Tax rates.
I believe it is unfair that Cardiff does not receive this extra funding, and I’m leading calls for its introduction. This extra financial support would provide a tremendous boost for Cardiff and its surrounding communities.
